Project Brief:
This hotel is located directly across from Trim Castle which featured in the Mel Gibson movie Braveheart. There were 14 no. roofs, all at different levels, from Balconies, Garden Areas, Light Wells, Carpark to the Main Roof area. The roof is Paralon ARDS on underlay with insulation on vapour barrier to a concrete deck roof.
The main roof area has a channel system to drain surface water. The main roof also has a series of 200 steel posts to support Mesh used to hide all the plant & machinery on the roof so it cannot be seen from the top of the castle. The outdoor car park area is approximately 2000 sq. metres, and is located directly above an underground car park. This was weathered using Paralon NT4 with a layer of Tefond as a protection layer. Stone was then put on this, rolled and then finished with tarmacadam.
This contract presented many challenges which required a high degree of co-operation between ourselves and the Architect and Main Contractor.
